WONDER GIRL
Cassandra Sandsmark
WHO ARE YOU
Height: 5'4" Weight: 100 lbs Body Type: Fit and muscular Skin color: Lightly tanned Hair color: Blond Hair length/type: Just past shoulders with a fringe Eye color: Blue Uniform: A black headband to keep her hair in check, paired with a black sleeveless shirt emblazoned with two gold W's like Wonder Woman. Red pants and blue shoes follow, the pants having two white stripes running down the side. Her uniform also has a stealth mode that turns everything black except the crest, which becomes silver. As a prodigy of Wonder Woman Cassie also has two bullet proof bracelets, silver star earrings, and a golden lasso gifted from Zeus able to summon his lightening. Cassie is fit young woman. Several years of training have hardened her body, stripping it of any excess fat and turning her into a muscle based powerhouse like her mentor. But despite the hardness of her body, Cassie manages to appear warm thanks to a great smile and inviting face. Her golden mane softens her edges, and her baby blues invite the conversations her biceps might keep away. Not overly tall, Cassie considers herself average height. Which is at odds with her weight, her strength training having packed on the muscle pounds. For such a slim girl she is actually quite dense. Cassie doesn't take her uniform off very often. Unlike other heroes, she has avoided the spandex that creeps uncomfortably into places it shouldn't go. Instead she wears basically her gym clothes. A pair of track pants and a tank top are her uniform, so she rarely finds the need to change into something more comfortable. Indeed, usually Cassie has to dress up, pulling out a sleek dress for the odd special occasion. If Cassie ever does try the whole civilian clothes thing, she usually dons jeans and a black shirt.
Secret Has a selfie obsession. Personality: Cassie is the very definition of tough. At first glance one might assume she grew up with a herd of brothers who were way too into wrestling. In actual fact Cassie is an only child. Her toughness comes from a youth spent rebelling against everything then idolising Wonder Woman, followed by a puberty filled with training under her hero, then taking up the mantle of hero herself. As a child Cassie wanted nothing more than to follow in Wonder Woman's footsteps and become a hero herself. The latter half of her young life has been devoted to making that dream a reality through intense training and, more recently, trying her hand at the hero business with a team other than her mentor. Is it any wonder then that Cassie is often referred to as a tomboy? Wonder Girl does not shy away from a fight. Indeed, constantly seeking to test her limits, Cassie actively seeks out missions and foes that are beyond her abilities. This is likely linked to her childhood itch to fight literally everything she could. She loves the rush that comes from a gritty battle, and the bruises the following day are badges of pride to show that she is that little bit stronger for it. She is always first to put her hand up for the physical stuff, and will audibly groan if sidelined or stuck on a mission where she doesn't have much to do. Cassie, like her powers, is full of energy. Eager to jump into any new task with a will, she easily makes friends with her happy smile and can do attitude. Quite carefree and fun loving, she often cracks jokes, and can find the best of most bad situations. However she is easily distracted by interesting things when not in battle. Usually it is only for a moment that her concentration wanders, but sometimes she does need a word from her team mates to refocus her on the task at hand. On the other hand, when getting her hero on Cassie is so focused she misses everything not directly in her line of sight. She easily falls for taunts and traps, flying recklessly in and naively trusting her powers will keep her safe. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE The early years Cassie is the only daughter of renown archeologist Dr Helena Sandsmark. She never knew her father Perhaps it was some subconscious feeling of abandonment, or a restlessness in her spirit thanks to her dormant demigod blood. Or maybe she was just a little bit of a brat. Regardless, Cassie came to be known as ‘the problem child’. She was shipped from school to school, five in total. None seemed to tame the girl’s itch to rebel. Ever since she could walk, Cassie had been wanting to go left when people told her to go right. It was simply her nature. Is it any wonder then that the preteen idolised Wonder Woman? A woman who didn’t just laugh in the face of the gender binary, but actively punched that glass ceiling to smithereens. As her mother is fond of pointing out, had Cassie not gone complete fangirl on Wonder Woman, her life might have been very different. Cassie didn’t act out because of some deep seated sadistic urge to hurt others. Something in her just found it very hard to do as she was told. She always had to push, to fight back. Not because she wanted to piss people off, but because simply doing as she was told pissed her off. Age 10 She was at a cross roads. A mere 10 years old, she was entering the stage of life where less than savoury elements of society make themselves known. Her need to push was no longer being sated by back talk and brawling. Cassie would need to up her game soon, break some new rules. Maybe try shoplifting or something. Thankfully Wonder Woman’s one woman crusade to bring justice to the world, and destroy the patriarchy as a happy side effect, caught Cassie’s attention first. Her need to fight back was focused on her new obsession, and, without the preteen even noticing at first, her desire to rebel diminished. Thoughts of stealing faded into memory as she absorbed her new heroine’s philosophies. Because, thanks to the intensity of her fangirling, Cassie’s desire to fight back was now focused on cheering Wonder Woman on with mental support. Cassie managed to stay at what was now the 5th school she had attended so far in her short life, for a full 4 months, blowing her old record out of the water. Her relationship with her mother eased some, Helena happily feeding her daughter’s fangirl cravings in the hope this was finally the solution to her problem child. Cassie spent most of her spare time hanging out at the Gateway City Museum of Antiquities, Dr Sandsmark the then curator. The staff lounge had cable and a bigger TV than they did at home, so Cassie would watch her hero there. She also liked to study the greek artefacts her mother had collected for the displays. She may walk out on almost all her math classes, but, like her stubbornness, Cassie shared her mother’s love for the ancient world. Then, one day, the unthinkable happened. The new employee at the Museum was none other than Wonder Woman herself! The Amazon revealed herself when a golem came back to life and had to be put down. Cassie definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely did not accidentally activate it by touching something she shouldn’t in a place she shouldn’t have been… Introductions were made, beloved memorabilia was signed, and about half the things on Cassie’s bucket list got crossed off. But the moment was cut short when a clone of Doomsday attacked. Conveniently having her cosplay Donna Troy Wonder Girl outfit on hand, Diana signing it mere moments ago, Cassie suited up and dived into the fray. Turns out that the craving to steal hadn’t quite gone away after all. Instead of stealing for fun, Cassie had stolen the Sandals of Hermes and the Gauntlet of Atlas that morning. The preteen had stuffed them into her bag, intending to try her hand at being a hero that night. The opportunity to jump straight into the big leagues, fighting with her idol on her first day was a dream come true. And Cassie definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely did not just get in the way and be absolutely no help at all… Diana, surprisingly, was just as eager to train Cassie, as Cassie was to be trained. The little girl’s guts had impressed the Amazon, as had her dedication to proving herself for one so young. However Helena put a stop to any idea of being the new Wonder Girl, utterly forbidding it. Naturally Cassie snuck out that night and picked a fight with the first guy she came across. Decay. Evenly matched, the tide turned in her favour when Diana swung to the rescue. Helena was livid. Cassie was grounded, literally, the Sandals being confiscated and kept in Helena’s room. But night after night Cassie snuck in, stole them back, and went out to continue being Wonder Girl. A month later After about a month, and many adventures later, Cassie managed to snag an audience with Zeus whilst she was on Olympus for Wonder Woman business. There, as a boon for her deeds and almost foolhardy determination to continue being a super hero, Zeus granted her fondest wish, giving Cassie super powers of her own. With one caveat. His other sons having abused their power in the past, Zeus put a failsafe on Cassie. With a single touch Dr Sandsmark could temporarily take away her daughters powers. Tempted by the idea, Helena eventually decided not to use her touch unless needed. Seeing how happy Cassie had been this past month, how focused, how good she had been. Being a hero was the best thing for her daughter. Even if she was still a kid. A few days after this Diana gave her her very own set of indestructible gauntlets, truly commemorating her transition to the official Wonder Girl. The teen years The next five years passed in a blur. Wonder Woman was a relentless teacher, turning almost everything into some kind of lesson. Thankfully, with her need to fight being sated with actual fist fights, Cassie had no problem doing as she was told. For the first time in her life she could listen to someone talk and not have a huge urge to back chat them with some snarky retort. A year after gaining her powers, Cassie received another gift. A lasso from the God Ares. Her golden coil did not compel the truth like Diana’s. Instead, Cassie’s was more of an assault weapon, matching her personality. When angered she could summon the lightening of Zeus himself along the rope. She spent most of her spare time sparring with Diana, the Amazon almost never tiring. Under her watchful eye Cassie’s flailing fists were sculpted into fine tuned hitting machines. She went from a novice all strength and no technique, to a master, wielding her strength with minimal risk of excess bodily harm. She was tutored in the ways of war, and understood almost nothing of it. Only in recent months has she matured enough to start thinking more for herself. Gone were her days of flailing at the enemy and hoping her strength would scare them off. Now she could spar against Diana and not only remain standing, but actually hold her own, with a good chance she might actually win. She could wield her lasso like she was born with it, summoning the lightening at a moments notice. She had the ability to break free from her mentor and try her hand at being a solo hero. But whilst she possessed all the skills, Cassie was still young. Having turned 15 only a month past, both Diana and Helena believed she was not mature enough to go solo yet. Diana had taught Cassie as much as she could. What Wonder Girl needed now was experience. Her whole hero life she had followed in Diana and Donna's footsteps. She needed to branch out and try working with a team, maybe attempt her hand at leading. So Diana signed her up with the Teen Titans. In the New Year Cassie moved into the Titan Tower and rapidly came to be known as one of the core team. The fact that she had spent many a night beaten and bruised with Robin after some intense training sessions with Batman in the past probably helped forge the strong friendship between the two proteges. Over the next 3 years Cassie had many adventures with the Titans. Unfortunately she had been called back to Paradise Island to help Wonder Woman with an impending disaster there, so she missed the whole catastrophe that led to the capture of majority of the world's villains. When she finally made it back to Jump City it was all over, the Teen Titans had achieved total victory. Naturally Cassie was stoked for her team mates, and led the charge to the Pizzeria that night for some more celebrations. When the bad guys broke free a few months later, she was devastated just like Robin and the team. In an effort to help with the recruitment drive Cassie headed south, picking up a bunch of young heroes from the central Americas. Now she's back in Jump, doing her best to help achieve some sort of balance in the city again. WHAT CAN YOU DO Mastery of Powers Level 3 | 8 years experiance | Advanced Mastery of Combat skills Level 4 | 8 years experiance | Professional Mastery of Tactical skills Level 3 | 3 years experiance | Advanced Powers: Much like her mentor, Cassie has the fairly standard Wonder Woman power set. Originally thanks to some items she... procured, Wonder Girl's powers are currently a gift from Zeus. A reward for helping Wonder Woman several years ago. Cassie can fly at a maximum speed of Mach 5, just breaking the Hypersonic barrier. But for the most part she tends to stick to Mach 1.5 (just past the sound barrier) or less. She can be considered largely invulnerable, able to withstand 4500 tons of force before taking much damage. Cassie has super strength able to lift a maximum of 5000 tons. She also has super reflexes, easily keeping track of bullets and moving in time to deflect them with her gauntlets, even able to deflect accurately towards a seperate target. As her powers are her "fondest wish" the limits of them tend to vary according to how much Cassie desires her power. Which is why, even though she can push herself up to Mach 5 in dire circumstances, for the most part Cassie tops out at Mach 3, which is a tad above average for most fast flying supers (those that can break the sound barrier). Similarly, whilst she can withstand a brunt force of 4500 tons (a bit more than a full power punch from Starfire), Cassie tends to accumulate damage from lesser forces unless she actually braces for the injury. Meaning she can fracture a few ribs from forces around 1500 tons and up. Cassie is also more vulnerable to piercing attacks than blunt force attacks. If she stands in the heart of an explosion often the shrapnel will cause very shallow minor scratches here and there. In terms of bullets, none will actually pierce Cassie's skin. However, as they are quite small, the force of impact is condensed into a single area. Sniper bullets can bruise her side or possibly break a rib if she isn't ready for it. An anti-tank rifle will knock her off her feet and likely shatter a few ribs if she hasn't braced. Otherwise the ribs would be intact but she would have a massive bruise. Whilst normal bullets from a hand guns and the like won't break bone, they do leave decent bruises and are tender for the next few days, hence why Cassie prefers to deflect them. Her reflexes fail to track things moving faster than Mach 3 unless she actively concentrates, then they can strain all the way up to Mach 5. Since bullets tend to travel Mach 2.2 Cassie doesn't need to actively concentrate to block them. It also means, so long as she sees you coming, she can counter most normal attacks. As a condition of Zeus's boon, Cassie's mother Dr Sandsmark has the power to take away her powers with a simple touch to the brow. Skils: Thanks to years training with Wonder Woman, the Amazons, and quite a few "play dates" with Batman and Superman and their side kicks, Cassie has a broad grasp of most forms of combat. She has a professional level of mastery in most hand to hand combat techniques including boxing, kick boxing, judo, karate, taijutsu, and so on. With Wonder Woman as her personal trainer for 8 years, these various styles have been combined and edited to be suitable for aerial combat as well. Cassie is just as proficient in the air as she is on the ground. A warriors training would not be complete without being well versed in armed warfare, and Diana made sure Cassie's education lacked for naught. In addition to being able to make her lasso dance in her hand, Cassie is also a professional with most swords, blades, shields, spears, bows, and other classic weaponry. The only weapons she finds she has little affinity for are guns. Her mastery for guns can be considered Intermediate. For all her mastery of techniques and weaponry, Cassie tends to opt for the simple approach. She finds no need to show off her fancy combat skills when her brute strength and speed are usually enough to win the fight. As a result she usually only uses these skills once its become apparent she needs to i.e. after something has already gone wrong. Diana, as the foremost warrior of the age, tried to train Cassie in both combat and tactical warfare. The physical side Cassie had no problems keeping up with. However Wonder Girl tended to take the tactics in one ear and out the other. It was only once she moved to the Teen Titans and had to actively consider her actions without Wonder Woman there to cover her blunders that Cassie actually started to try and remember those tactical lessons. As such she only has about 3 years experience using her tactical skills. And whilst she is getting pretty decent at planning and coordinating strike teams, when it comes to stealth operations, she's still terrible once she gets out in the field. The saying "do as i say, not as i do" could not be more true for Cassie when it comes to her battle plans. Gadgets: Cassie wields the typical arsenal of a Wonder Woman protege. The signature indestructible gauntlets encircle her wrists, able to deflect almost all attacks. And on her hip rests the coiled lasso. A gift from Ares, Cassie's lasso differs from Wonder Woman's. If Cassie is angered she is able to channel Zeus's lightening through the rope, giving the lasso a new fighting edge. |
