Tag Villains and Open | 381 | What's in the box Wonder Girl glided swiftly over the rooftops, the very tips of her shoes occasionally grazing the shingles. She'd had the misfortune of drawing the short straw and landing the graveyard shift thousands of times in the past, and for the most part barely anything ever happened. The odd burglary or drunken brawl were the highlights of her late night career. But lately things were different. Jump City was filled to the brim with strangers. Half the Teen Titans were new kids, and she had no hope of remembering the face of every new bad guy that had wandered into town. So whilst past experience told the young hero that tonight would be just like all her other graveyard patrols; boring and deserted, Cassie still felt a nagging sense of unease. There were just too many people up to no good now for her to not stumble onto something. Curving left, Cassie drifted off the streets and out over the shipping yard. There was a lot of precious cargo in the maze of shipping containers below her, a likely target for thieves. Or, if she was really lucky, organised crime groups picking up their illegal shipments of guns and the like. Well hello gorgeous. Wonder Girl thought to herself as her eye was drawn to the swinging door of an open container. As silently as she could, Cassie touched down around the corner, her ears straining for some sign that she wasn't alone. Her gaze tried to seperate shadow from foe, but so far as the Titan could tell, she was utterly alone. Fists clenched and her muscles coiled at the ready, Cassie tiptoed around the corner and stepped into the shipping container. "Huh... " The entire container was utterly empty. Either the bad guys had already been and gone and she'd missed them, or the dock team had cleared the cargo out that afternoon and forgotten to lock up. Shrugging, Wonder Girl turned to leave. But instead of pale moonlight Cassie was greeted with the sight of the container door slamming shut, sealing her inside. "Wha-HEY! Not cool!" She called, fumbling forwards in the absolute darkness. Apparently she was not alone after all... That, or the wind had it out for her again. |
